Family members play an extremely important role in the life of the patient suffering from schizophrenia due to their financial, emotional and social support.

This can also manifest as practical assistance in the form of simple household chores, such (e.g. cleaning and cooking), personal hygiene, accompanying the patient to the doctor, or encouraging the patient to take the medicine as prescribed.

By insisting that the patient takes the medications and goes to medical visits regularly, most of the psychotic symptoms can be controlled and so the patient will be able to live a normal life.
