Patients living with schizophrenia are often concerned about what others might think of their disease.

So they rather not talk about it with others. It is a widely held view about patients living with schizophrenia that they are “aggressive criminals” or “have multiple personalities”. The patients’ family members and friends can improve the perception of schizophrenia if they are open about the disease and its effects. A positive relationship between the patient living with schizophrenia and his or her relatives in which the patient feels valued and which improves his or her self-esteem.
